We are excited to invite you to join us for a spectacular afternoon of music that crosses borders and boundaries for everyone. Music Without Borders is an opportunity to learn more about your instrument, engage in musicianship opportunities, and play with your friends. All woodwind, brass, string, and percussion players are welcome.

The conference schedule is busy, running from 1:00 to 5:30 pm, and offers choices for everyone. Participate as much as you like!

Conference Schedule:

1:00–1:20             Welcome and Keynote Address: Mary Luehrsen from the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM)

1:30–2:25             Woodwind/String Workshops: Instrument specific opportunities to learn from professional performers on Flute, Double Reeds, Clarinets, Saxophones, Violin/Viola, and Cello/Bass

Musicianship Sessions: Choose a session about brass instrument repair, music technology, music preferences, ukulele, or musicology  

2:30–3:25             Brass/Percussion Workshops: Instrument specific opportunities to learn from professional performers on Trumpet, Horn, Trombone, Euphonium/Tuba, and Percussion

Musicianship Sessions: Choose a session about woodwind instrument repair, music technology, music preferences, ukulele, or musicology  

3:25–4:00             BREAK - warm-up 

4:00–4:50             Virtual Ensembles: Choose to join Intermediate Band, Advanced Band, or Orchestra and play with NHIMA colleagues and friends from all over North America and beyond

5:00–5:30:           Happy Hour: End your day with a tutorial from a celebrity chef, a chance to connect with your new NHIMA friends, and a closing address from Dr. Jennifer Bugos, researcher in lifelong music learning. 

Conference Fees:

Early Bird Registration - Members $45 USD / Non-Members $60 USD (until Monday, March 22nd, 2021

After 22 March - Members $55 USD / Non-Members $70 USD

NHIMA Complimentary Director Member/Group Contact Price - $25 USD (Restricted to Complimentary Director Memberships or Group Contacts-1 per group)

Important Notes:            

  • Conference fees are non-refundable after Saturday, March 27th 2021. 
  • Regular registration closes Tuesday, April 6th 2021 – 5:00 p.m. EDT. 
  • Late registration (After 5:00 PM on April 6th) will be $65 USD for members and $80 USD for non-members (workshop/ensemble selections not guaranteed).  All registration will close on April 9th at noon.

The conference will be held on Zoom.  No other software or special subscriptions will be required.  Links and materials will be sent Wednesday, April 7th, 2021
